Woo, someone needs to turn on the cold showers. Things are getting a bit racy in here. ;D |

Is it just me, or do all those quotes actually work when you consider Arlington and his backstory. |

Luffy question is good... Is Arlong "Racist" or "Specist"? |

The term Racist is a bit of a misnomer, by it's very definition race is a synonym for species. Relatively recent events in our culture have completely warped the word into what we know it as today. If we were to change out for a more accurate word for what humans call racism, breedism would be more accurate, yet still falls short. |

Since the biological races as race is commonly defined aren't actual things the most appropriate term would be "arbitrary-divisionist" |

At least in German the term 'Rasse' means breed and nothing else. 'Spezies' or 'Art' is a category where interbreeding doesn't produce fertile (if any) offspring. |

My Knowledge(pop-culture) came up a Nat 1. What are those quotes from again? |

Fantasy games is all about genetics. Dwarves are all about the dwarves. The elves are all about the elves, and so on. They're built with bigotry hardwired in. |

Anytime anyone plays an Elf. Pointy eared arrogant schmucks the lot of them. |

Reminds me of a very real criticism I have of many attempts at elves. As long as people aren't expecting like Santa's Elves or the like, I find there are two ways to go with Elves: |

Tried something similar with my blind elderly dwarf sorcerer. Only got to play him for one or two sessions, so it never came into effect, but part of his character was/is that he's really, really anti-orc. Old-school dwarf, just was raised that way. But most of the time (since the party didn't have any of orc-blood in it) I played him as this sorta silly geezer, going on one last adventure before his final retirement. |

...I've seen several instances of racists trying to MAKE RPGs! |

As kind of an overdone plot element, it's never seriously showed up as part of the writing; but the nature of tabletops as having a basis in rules caused it to become very interesting indeed in one campaign I was in. |

I ran a Pathfinder game ages ago and one of my player insisted that he be allowed to play a monstrous race, a Thrykreen to be exact. I tend to put a lot of logic and realism in my campaigns (I know, stupid for a fantasy setting) and felt that monstrous creatures would not automatically get a pass in a normal human town. When he decided to enter, no one out right attacked him but it was obvious they were scared of him and he was even barred from buying a horse on the grounds that he would eat it. The player ended up making a fuss over the fact that that was racist and got mad about it even after I explained my reasons for how the npc's saw him and that he was not a common thing |

Oddly enough I do have a 40k experience that fits. |

Racist gold dragon that wanted to exterminate all humanoids except elves. For added fun, the party then got into an argument about whether gold dragons could be evil. |

I'm currently in a 5e campaign where the city that everything takes place in is horribly racist against Half-Elves. Their section of the city is horribly run down, and every one that we've met have had injuries from being beaten. Basically, they're slaves. |

My favorite one is still when I rolled a different elf, the party assumed I knew my first elf character from the previous campaign. |

Our dragonborn paladin never bothers to learn that the gnomes in the are not goblins. "It's all the same to me." |

Using this in the same campaign I mentioned previously. So there's a player not exactly happy with his current character, so he asked if he could play something else. After he explained it was a Bloodrager(Hybrid Sorcerer/Barbarian), he asked me if I could fit it in somehow. |
