"Tel a Story: You own Medicine"

Sometimes poetic justice is something you enjoy. Sometimes it just hurts.

Share a tale about a time your GM took note of your own ingenuity, and then had an enemy use your own skills or strategies against you.

"Well, that backfired spectacularly"

I've occasionally told stories of my Con-Artist wizard. Near the end of his adventures, he initiated a complex and dangerous plan to usurp the crown. The DM threw everything he had into keeping that from happening. One of my wizard's favorite tricks was to have his Imp Familiar spy on people while invisible. So imagine his surprise when, immediately after poisoning the queen the court wizard burst in with a half a dozen guards accusing me of murdering the queen. To prove it, he summoned his witness: An Imp Familiar who had been hiding invisibly in the room.
Unfortunately, the party immediately murdered him and his familiar, accusing him posthumously of consorting with demons and regicide. A faked Speak with Dead spell even got him to confess his allegiance with the main villain.

Well, my 5th edition bard took counterspell as a magical secrets option and he'd used it a few times to good effect. Then we came up against a drow sorcerer who'd done some extra modifications on himself so he was not gigantic in size. The fight was going badly for my bard, mostly because he'd used some kind of mind control on the party barbarian who was laying into me. So I used polymorph on myself to gain some HP for a while. He tried his own counterspell attempt to block this. Catch is, he'd used a third level slot to try and counter a fourth level spell so he needed to make an ability check to make it work. He rolled a 1.

"Anything you can do I can do better"

I had a DM who has a rule
His rule was that any rule system you want to use (maneuvers, 2e wild talent, OP feat combos planar shepards, etc) he can use for his mooks too
Suffice to say the group now ploices itself

Mysterious Frog

It is probably a pretty common thing. As a GM I do it too. My players greatly regretted the half ogre half golem warblade they made once I responded in kind.

But Frog, you know very well anyone can be Half Golem. That adquired Template is one, if not THE, easiest one to get.
