There are always such interesting conversations in the comments, but one thing I don't think anyone has asked of the many commenters is... What would you make into a Campaign Comic? I lean towards DB/DBZ (for the variety of races) or possibly the DC Animated Universe (Nostalgia and a lot of wanting to try playing Mutants and Masterminds). What would you do?

What, like make a screen capture comic out of some medium?

Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Joss Whedon entertainments are one of those rare ones where every character get their own arcs and their own times to shine. It's perfect for D&D style adventures, though I'd play it more as a World of Darkness setting.

Leverage is another t.v show that would work fairly well. Small cast, each with their own roles and prominent story arcs etc etc

It's funny you say that because there's actually a Leverage RPG out there, go look it up!

Titan AE. It's on my to-do list, but I usually keep quiet for fear that someone else will do it first.
I haven't settled on a system yet, but I'm leaning towards a generic equivalent to Star Wars d20.

The X-Men movies. You've got the different player archetypes nailed, and the movies make -so- much more sense if you imagine player drama as the reason for some of the horrible scenes.

If I had the patience, time blah blah I would love to work on making one for various live action series. Or the animated JLA one.
But something like Zoo and have the players treat it like a FATE game so they are all heavy roleplayers in some sense

Aw man, Ranma 1/2 would be amazing. Kinda makes me want to run a campaign full of curses.

I think I'd like to do Fringe as one- use some sort of system that works for both adventure and mystery and paranoia, though I've not played enough games to really know which would work best. Probably a homebrew, really.

I've got an old attempt at a comic based on The Magic Flute somewhere. One of these days I'll get back to it.

Assuming I actually had a lot of knowledge on how D&D works and plays (which I don't, any knowledge I have on the subject is derived from campaign comics), it would be... hmm. It would be a toughie.

First choice would be Ranma 1/2, but two people already beat me to it. But hey, if they drop the ball, I'd be happy to pick it back up. I also thought of Pearls Before Swine and Danny Phantom, but I decided that wouldn't work (no action, seriously, what the f#$% was I thinking?/I like the show, but not that much.)

So my two choices would be Bone and Sonic the Hedgehog. I know Bone, I love Bone, Bone would really work, though it would feel kinda weird to turn a comic into a... comic. Not to mention I might just be effectively re-writing the word balloons, which would really limit myself and where the comic could go.

Sonic the Hedgehog, on the other hand, would be massively tricky. I would have to use custom sprites for the 2D games, and who knows what else for the 3D ones, plus there's no getting around the problem that at several long points, one PC would just be on their own doing a lot of adventuring, which would give me little opportunity for humorous conversations between PCs. That problem especially shines bright if I start at Sonic 1, where there would have to only be one PC and one DM. I could have the two just argue back and forth, but that sounds suspiciously like Sonic and Friends, and I don't wanna be redundant.

Still, I'm generating all sorts of story and character ideas adapting Sonic into a D&D campaign, such as the DM being this guy that can only make great hack-n-slash dungeons but when he's roped into making stories, he doesn't make the hottest stories let's just say (in addition to having some of Eggman's personality), Sonic being a socially-awkward player who gradually opens up to the building number of players in the group, 06 being a grand campaign that the DM hadn't finished yet and procrastinated on until he had to tie it all together in a weekend, the constant fluctuation of tone brought on by all the discussion between the players on what kind of plot to have, Shadow being an Natatile-level role-player but a bit of an attention whore...

I've actually been thinking about this, though I'm beginning to think I'm late enough to the game that most of the good campaign comics have been done or taken. I think I'd probably aim for something either with an established finish line, maybe an anime like Kill la Kill or Akame ga Kill, or maybe just a single film or film series, more in the vein of how Darths & Droids treated the SW universe.

It would take someone more hilarious than myself to pull it off, but I hope someone does one for One Punch Man.

I would think Boondock Saints would be fun movie to make into a campaign comic for a system like Blade of the Iron throne. Gritty, brutal, hilarious, and dramatic for drama points.

The one I have thought of would be based on JoJo's Bizarre Adventures using the White Wolf's story system.
It would give the players a reason to play as different characters.
(Guess who the murder hobo of the group is going to play as, as his first character?)

I was thinking of doing JoJo myself and each story arc could be an update I the rules, only two things holding me back. 1: I want to rereac more of the
Manga first and 2: I am unsure if I should pics from the manga or anime. Anime would be higher quality, but if I want to do part 4 or beyond I would be stuck.

Cool. The part that each arc could be an upgrade to the rules sounds like a good idea to make each arc different.

I was also thinking of using clips from the anime, but that will most certainly wait as I haven't heard about part 4 being adapted.

Honestly, a Kamen RIder Gaim comic set in the FATE system has been on my mind in the past few months.

Adventure Time. However I'm a bad author and also have a tendency to never follow through with my various projects. Also I have no spare time to take any new responsibilities right now. I'd like to read it though.

I already tried, on one of my ideas, for Fairy Tail.
Didn't work out. I got over eager and started without a buffer, then lost enthusiasm and quit. I'll try again in january, but until then I've got other things I need to do.

I'm working on a campaign set in the One Punch Man universe, and giving the players a set of completely asinine superpowers.

I've actually put quite a bit of thought into this question. I'd like to do the Indiana Jones films. They follow quite well as Call of Cthulhu campaign if done in timeline order, beginning with Temple of Doom.

Others I've considered are The Forbidden Kingdom using Exalted, the Hellboy films in WoD, and Prince of Persia using Pathfinder.

Battleship (the movie).

It only makes any sense as a campaign. The same six characters do everything of value and survive everything that takes out the rest of the fleet, they get saved by deus ex machinas all the time because the GM doesn't want to do a party wipe, they clearly go off the campaign rails a few times, and one guy insisted on playing a Japanese character and the GM had to work that in.

It also explains how some of those characters could act like that and still be in the Navy.

Got a Fairy Tail one in planning, but it looks like someone's beat me to it.

I'm too much of a lazy slacker to envisage doing it i think. i'd start and stop at 20 pages or so.
Also, since i tend to rule (and played under guys who ruled) mostly by "it's funnier this way, so let's go with it" rather than rule of law, that might be very of very little interest for any one reading it.

If i had any experience with Roleplaying...hm hard to sah. There are many things i like but don't think would make good campaigns.
on the other end, Slayers would be too easy a choice due to already having many campaign-like elements.
And maybe using a works that takes itself very seriousely would make for a better parody.
