...there's facing death with dignity, and then there's being stupid. Still gotta catch up to the comic in the show... I tried and failed to stay away; there aren't enough campaign comics out there to get me my fix!
No, that wouldn't work. We've already seen that Zoro is actually still able to function nearly perfectly at -8 and -9 HP. Unless, having been hit into the negatives but LIVING, Cory decides to actually let Zoro pas sout and stabilize, instead of trying another round.
Or we may see yet another instance of the GM giving an awesome description of Zoro's death, Nami and Dan role-playing their characters' reactions to this tragic event at length, Mihawk's departure...
And then, as they're hauling out Zoro's corpse from the water, Cory suddenly remembers a detail, a feat or a miscalculated damage resistance thingy, and Zoro survives.
Or maybe it's not that at all. In any case, it'll be cool to see how DT handles the next few strips. I'm guessing... awesomely?
Or maybe this is the moment where Emily fumbles a roll. rolls a 1 on all her damage dice for this attack and just fails to kill Zoro. After them both consistently rolling in the high percentage during this fight, I feel she deserves to fumble at least one roll.
When you consider the amount of static damage in builds like this compared to something like sneak attack[Where you can roll all 1s for relatively minimal damage after craven] Power Attack orriented builds tend to get to the point where you could be using a dagger or a huge category fullblade and it doesn't make a huge difference.
yeah Leap attack/Shocktrooper lance builds can top 480 power attack damage per hit while Iaijutsu master builds can throw in 20x their CHA mod to damage once you get either of those down the difference between rolling a 1 and a 12 is pretty moot
Corey seems a lot more polite here than he is in 90% of the comic. Maybe the only way to make Corey take you seriously is to beat him within an inch of his life.
Not sure why nobody else has mentioned this yet, but could it perhaps be the last thing she said that lets Zoro survive? Some determination feat, like Luffy has with his hat?

So if they strike him down he will become even more powerful than the DM can imagine?

He survives on 0 HP. Or -9 and stabilizes, or something to that effect.

GM looks a bit steamed in panel 2. It must be difficult to suppress the rage of his players ruining the game.
