Character Concept Time!

Now, I have several I'll be willing to share over time. But, what you need to know is that I can't give you any of the mechanics...because I don't have them. These are just concepts, kids.

Now, which one to pick?

The Amnesic Construct Knight?
That Way of the Sword SwordSaint with one arm and a great sword?
The literal loot goblin? Wait no he's an NPC concept.

OH h*ck, I know!

Lets talk about the Dragoon.

Now, I like to use some homebrew classes from time to time to make up ideas for characters. In this case, I wound up using a Dragoon for it.

Oh, and we ain't talking about those jumping boys either. No, we are talking about THIS BABY.

Now, that's some neat class right there!

But, I hear you asking, whats the concept? You just put up a class.

Oh yeah, good point. This is a full character concept, not just a good homebrew.

So, this Dragoon is based around a very simple concept.

They kill Monsters, N O T P E O P L E!

That isn't to say that if pressed they wouldn't commit murder, its just that they wouldn't take a job that the clear intention of it was to kill people.

That bring us to the question, what exactly counts as people?

Oh baby theres the meat of this concept.

In essence, the

Hit the send button accidently. Anyway.

One of the main reasons I liked the idea of choosing this class for the concept is that it's highly based around the charging mechanic. What I specifically love is that one has to COMMIT to their actions when charging. You have to consciously commit to the fact you are putting in your full effort to kill whatever the hell you are charging at. You can't stop, you can't change your mind, its already decided. This, combined with the inclusion of Dragon Rush, only further pushes that idea.

They don't like to have to kill people. People being any creature that is actually sentient. So, when they choose to charge at their opponent, and Dragon Rush, it isn't just an action, it actually means something to the character. It means they are actively choosing to end the life of another person. For that reason, the concept requires a character that has some level of charisma, so that they can attempt to settle things peacefully with whatever group it is that they are fighting.

...But a major part of this concept is at what point the character stops considering something a person. Sure, sentience is a major part of it, but many sentient beings wouldn't count as a person. Like I said earlier, they are a hunter of monsters, not people.

So what constitutes a monster? Somebody that freely ends the lives of others for their profit? A creature that has to kill others to survive, else face starvation?

That's up for you to decide.

Most of my other concepts are actually fleshed out characters, unlike this one. Think of it as a template.

Go tell a story with it, and come back someday and tell us about it.

Next time I tell a concept, I'll tell you about the Kobold.
