When a player is staring down thousands of the enemy, there is no fear in his mind.
Though the unfathomable hosts of the nine realms shall rise up against him, and there should be no hope to see tomorrow's rising sun, only one thought, only one question, would enter a true gamer’s mind. He clears his throat, and, looking solemnly at his fellow players, he asks:
The last massive combat I was in, it was the party against an army of a little more than a thousand fighter lvl 5 orcs. But technically, for every lvl 5 orc there were two lvl 1 orc mooks. It's just that at that point we were high enough level that we didnt get any xp from those, so they dont actually count. What we ended up doing was having the two fighters(both of whom cleave through enemies like butter) cut their way through the main force to defeat the army's leadership, while the 2 wizards used fly spells and fireballs to blast the rest of the army where it would hurt the most. Sometimes we'd blast a fireball at the fighters because they were surrounded, and while THEY could take the damage(or simply evade it perfectly) the orcs couldn't.
And so we saved the town! Yay!

"Does anyone remember the rules for mass combat?"
