I like this comic but I think I'm done. It likes to focus way too much on how many references it can get in and not nearly enough on the actual story. It's cool every now and again but at this point it seems like the author can't stop themselves until they have every anime or popular cartoon referenced in this webcomic.
No, it is'nt DragonTrainer randomly using the names Finn and Jake to make a reference to the cartoon there.
Fin and Jake are the names of thoses three gaming pals.
Remember that Smoker, Tashigi and Carmen players are guest character from another comic, in which the player are indeed named after the adventure time characters.
What DragonTrainer is referencing here is that other comic, and it might actually be foreshadowin for the story if they do invite the two players mentioned here.
This is the sort of whole that got dug with all the crossover D&D comics also being canonical in the comics. The authors have kinda stumbled into (or planned out, who knows?) a pretty big shared universe, but one that can get rather silly looking when the references come up because of the very nature of some of said comics.

Idea: An Adventure Time campaign comic except the campaign in question is The Adventure Zone
