He wants her for her mind and not her body

Of course Arlong doesn't want her body, he spent years beating it up whenever it tried to support the mind's desire to flee or disobey his orders. He's so racist against humans that, if he had found a machine to take a human's brain out of their body and put it in a jar, I honestly think he would have done that to Nami years ago just to ensure that he has a good cartographer for years to come.

"Whoops, you wanted that, didn't you?"

Loot is a lovely thing, especially when said loot is a wonderful shiny sword or weapon. And of course, getting said look is always a bonus with killing a monster.`

-But sometimes, in the heat of battle, you may accidently break said loot, either out of necessity or accident, leading to many a sad face for those hoping to obtain it. Tell a story about how, because of your actions, you weren't able to get a shiny reward off of a monster or bosses body.

"The Wand"

My group was playing a campaign where the Abyss was spilling into the Underdark and we were tasked with stopping it. It culminated in a ritual that summoned every Demon Prince onto the Material Plane in one place to duke it out (minus Jubilex, who we'd already defeated) and become banished for 100 years. The final battle came down to Demogorgon and Orcus, with Demogorgon slaying Orcus. Our group then managed to defeat him shortly afterword, with the help of a bunch of disposable skeletons and some lucky phazerous. At the end of it, my sorcerer noticed a wand lying under the corpse of Demogorgon and picked it up, bonding to it instantly. It was Orcus' Wand. Our party necromancer was suffering a single-minded madness, and really, really wanted the wand. We were going to have a magic duel over it, but the DM rolled some of the worst "minor detrimental effects" on the table, and I went down to the first Hold Person. Events proceeded such that I dropped the Wand of Orcus, someone else tried to pick it up and the necromancer tried to thunderwave him away.

It worked, but it sent the Wand flying too and into Demogorgon's corpse. On top of this, it destroyed the summoning stone that called the Demon Prince into the world, and both the corpse and Wand vanished.
