Sign languages seem to be oddly common among able bodied people in Dnd

I usually take Drow Sign Language for any character that routinely engages in stealth operations where speaking out loud is a bad idea. Being able to communicate without sound is a useful ability. Of course, Telepathy is better.

In that respect, taking sign language on your characters could be seen as the gaming equivalent of teaching standardized hand signals to your military.

If you're playing 3.5, one of the splatbooks has a language entry for 'Military Sign', aka hand signals.

I think it was the Heroes of Battle splat.

With the GM's approval, I once made a mute Truenamer that used Sign Languages both for communication and for his spells. I was basically doing Naruto hand seals every time I used truenaming. It was awesome.

Truenamer still sucks, though.

I thought Gordon was going to play as Sanji? Why is Luke still roleplaying him and rolling for him?

He's Luke's companion npc, that's also a gmpc. Since Luffy's down for now, and it would be strange to play both sides of the fight, the gm's letting Luke play

Yes, but didn't DM herself say "Wouldn't it be easier for me to control Kuroobi while you control Sanji?" some two or three strips ago?

Pretty sure it's just that gordon doesn't want his pc to die. After all, DM is rather... challenging. He's a lot more forgiving, like in the next strip.

Oh, I see. So that was more DM snarking than a serious suggestion.

Yeah. especially since they're in a pretty bad situation, if Sanji where to get killed now, Corry would have to manage to freed luffy by himself, which Arlong won't let happen. Gordon probably did'nt want to risk a tpk.
