"Tell a Story: A World of their Own"

Gaming is a social occasion. And like every social occasion, sometimes people disappear into their own thing and don't really come up for air. Even though it's the gaming table.

Share a story about a time two or more people went to their own little world and the rest of the table was left out.

"Orbs of plutonium"

I jumped in at the tail end of a Changeling campaign ages ago, and the party size was passed critical mass. The party ended up getting transported to the future and everyone got sidetracked. A conversation happened between a few of the players on the side about trying to get some future stuff to build something arcane, and somehow one of the players got the idea to raid a power plant to steal "orbs of plutonium" and somehow another player was with him due to confusion. Needless to say, they both got arrested. And this resulted in changelings being revealed to the government and being labelled as alien invading terrorists with an easily tracked genetic signal and both arrested characters dying at the hands of an assassin player due to their incompetence. But everything ended up okay because Cthulhu appeared in the middle of the city and destroyed everything in a 50 mile radius. The rest of the party survived, but the campaign was over and dead. Not a bad first session for me, I guess.

One time my old group's resident micro-manager and I had to design a Ranger for someone who was completely new to 3.5

I think we spent a solid two hours going over feats and skills trying to decide what was the most "basic" necessities for a archery ranger without ever once speaking to someone else, including the DM and the guy we were making the character for.

That doesn't sound like anything I'd call "ok"

The Spider-Man joke is just timeless. We're on our third spidey, this comic can take place anytime in the last 10+ years!

But maybe be careful of references like that, since it took awhile to get this far in real time.

Or anytime in the near future. I thought the trailer for Spider-man Homecoming had dropped and I hadn't heard of it yet.

Movie, sequel, maybe sequel, reboot.

the fact that they use the word "村” or Mura for the village lends this theory a lot of credance.

"War"

We had a game where the DM and another friend ran a mass battle for us using the Unearthed Arcana rules for 5e. They ran multiple stacks of allied archers and goblin invaders.

Between all the rolling for multiple attacks and damages, we would have our turns, then sit for about a half hour as they resolved their turns, which never effected our characters at all.

It was very tedious
