This is a great example for why anime makes a perfect setting for turn-based combat. The amount of time a character can spend on preparing an attack without interference from the opponent is totally justified in the context of the dramatic narrative. Just add some speed lines.

Another good setting would be classic comedy films à la Laurel & Hardy, where the pay-off of physical comedy often follows a long set-up during which the target waits in silent bewilderment. In this setting, AoOs would not happen very often, as in these films, you can easily place an egg on the head of your opponent or remove the hat, shoe or other item on their person without them fighting back at all, just looking at you with a mix of confusion and curiousity.

This, and a lot of other tropes, like how they still seem to fight at their fullest, or ever harder, when they're wounded and covered with blood. My role-playing abilities actually went up when I started making my characters act like they were in a movie or anime/manga.

Note to self: make a halfling Kamina and keep challenging the biggest monsters I can.

There's an archetype for halfling monks in pathfinder. Eventually, you trip as if you were Colossal.

"Stone Dragon Stances"

Useless for most characters, but it's funny how many things become more viable with a 200 foot reach.
