Zoro is like Gordon Freeman here (but with slightly more reason). "Listen, if the railroad tell me to go into the immobilizing chamber then I will obey because the story will literally stop otherwise."

Actually, that's a good point. Hold on, I need to make some changes to the script. >_>

*Runs off to change the script*

To be fair, that tends to be how I play. I wanna hear the story and face the challenges; doing anything much to try to *change* the story is work.
I have, in fact, once described my character "sitting around for the plot to show up," which come to think of it, my DM was entirely within his rights to get seriously annoyed over.
I think my preferred GM'ing style might turn out opposite to that, though; give the party at least three branches to choose from if I can. :/
It might be a really selfish way of acting as a player, but it's relatable.

Of course there is. There's always candy in windowless, colorless pots.

It MIGHT be a dreaded POT MIMIC, so rare, even adventurers don't believe they exist...(drop one on your players and watch the reactions...)

I once had coin mimics. Little stinging swarms that hibernated, pretending to be a pile of gold coins. The swarm was fun to use, since the little buggers didn't really have poison, just little stabby tails.

Would a compost pile mimic prey on Otyughs?

if I ever had a mansion, I would invest in mimics as part my security system.
Need to hide from the guard during your stealth mission?
Think that this pot is a convenient hiding place?
Have you ever considered making a Boba Fett impression?

"GM: we're not making that joke"

"no, it does not" XD
i'm laughing so much at this page. GM and DM version of the exchange between Arlong and Genzo is really fun.
