Not really... it is One Piece. To avoid spoilers, while I'll acknowledge it may or may not change at some point, at least by the Arlong Arc we are still seeing that few characters die when they clearly have taken enough punishment that by normal RPG rules, auto-death would have kicked in. =P

Yes excellent point; the story may have Usopp (or any of them) die and just be resurrected a la common RPG mechanics.
