"Tell a Story: Okay, Just Play Along"

Every group has the wheedler and dealer. The guy that is to smart for the group's own good. The one that is prone to suggesting the plans that no one wants to go with.

The one that likes to improvise at the worst moments. The words, "Just play along, guys," have been the swan song of many a disaster.

Share your story of when a player told you to play along and took control, and how well, or badly, it worked out.

"If they say "Dead or Alive" just kill it"

My 5.0 group picked up a bounty for a bandit chief. Everyone sans the ranger decided we'd kill the chief. We get him down to 1 HP, but our cleric and monk have already been downed, and the monk has already failed a death saving throw. The ranger was the only person left in the turn order before the monk, but he spends his turn picking up his swords and moving closer rather than shooting him because he wants to take him alive. Then the monk rolled a 1 on his death saving throw and promptly died. Then the barbarian killed the chief anyway. Everyone blamed the monk's death on the ranger.

"Smuggler fun"

Star Wars RPG, set about three months after Episode 3. Half our party consisted of Jedi on the run, then you had an ex-Republic Commando and me, a Smuggler that they hired because of my connections to the black market and my ship.

We are right on the edge of Hutt space when we get ambushed by an Imperial Patrol. Our ship ends up taking some decent damage and needs repairs, but we get away. Calling in a few favors, I get the repairs set up on a nearby world, which is a Hutt planet. What I didn't tell the party was that the cost for the repairs were the three jedi.

We go to met with the Hutt so I can render payment and tell the party to "go along with what is about to happen, I have a plan."

"Smuggler fun continued"

Hmm. Posted it somehow before I was done.

So the party listens to me, and brings no weapons with them to meetup, as per the terms. Under the guise of locking down specific parts of the ship, I go steal the jedi's lightsabers to hand them over also. We meet with the Hutt and I start going back over the deal, making sure to keep it vague. We both agree, shake hands, and then the party is ambushed by about 20 guards who subdue and capture the Jedi, who were flabbergasted by what had just happened and further shocked when I turn over their lightsabers. "Sorry guys, but money speaks very loud and I am getting a free refit and a bunch of upgrades to my ship for you" is the last they hear from me as I return to my ship.

That session ended there, but the next one had me break them out hours before they were to be turned over to Imperial Custody.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Zoro supposed to be part Fishman in the comic? If so, this ought to lead to some interesting conversation when/if Arlong finds out.

They probably hate him for being a sushi. A thin layer of fish hiding a crumbly, sticky foundation, specifically designed to weaken the fish.

Fish power! Fight the mankind! Down with Landy!

I re-watched "Django Unchained" recently, and just want to say that Nami is the exceptional human. The one human in ten-thousand.

And for Arlong that puts her on the same level as a very fine sword. A useful tool for him to wield.

Man I loved it when his teeth were punched out.

Once one of our barbarians realized he needed a weapon... and our halfling rogue was just about the right size for a weapon. Convinced him he 'knew what he was doing'. It was not pretty.
