Tell a story about an epic backstab. Doesn't matter which side of the knife you were on.

I like to think of it as less of a "back stab" and more of a loving smack to the back of the head for my old high school RPG group. I've also probably referenced this story multiple times, so the TL;DR version is:

Party celebrates getting paid by getting stupid drunk. I use this to set up a con that enriches me at the expense of the rest of the party (or rather the two most drunk members). Party doesn't like this but GM does and I not only get to keep the cash rewards in game but earn a role-playing bonus. If I remember correctly, he either stated or implied that we would have "earned" an extra encounter while hungover except I basically became the encounter for him, so we were spared a "pro" that saw us as nothing but easy marks.

The Iron Kingdoms story, right?

Disloyal Subject was "The Iron Kingdoms story, right?" supposed to be directed at me? Comic Fury seems to think so but I was talking about a GURPS 3e campaign from the mid-to-late 1990s using the GM's homebrew setting, so probably not unless you're someone from my old group. XD

Unless he totally fooled us into thinking it was a homebrew setting. I mean, I don't know what Iron Kingdoms actually is. XD

well, one time, my group had been doing a WoD Mage campaign, just two players at first, then another joined, then finally me when we had like, three sessions left. I was a Space/Time Mage, and we had been after the Sword of Cain, the first sword itself, to get the aid of some chinese emperor's ghost army. Long story short, we got it, and got the army. We turned the sword over to the setting's big good (I missed that session), and he locked it away (it was a powerful artifact). An army of Vampires was planning to attack our home base, Las Vegas, and we were preparing. One of my preparations was to create a time bubble to give an ally of ours a month to upgrade his somewhat sentient tank. It is now a spaceship. Nuf said.

The important one was me using my time powers to ask a few questions. One was "How can I get Cain's blade without coming to any mental, physical, emotional, or spiritual harm" It gave me an answer, so i retrieved the Skeleton Key in storage, went to said big good's office, destroyed his defenses with the key, and stole the sword. I used it wonderfully in the fight, able to go toe-to-toe with the Vampire Lords we faced, and when the final boss showed up, a blood elemental-esque remnant of Cain himself, i got eaten. I survived, but the big super blast the party was trying to blow Cain up with, with the combined power of two Forces 5 mages, one of which was said big good, should have killed me. Instead time froze, and the little gremlin from the skeleton key showed up, only I could comprehend this, and suddenly he was gone, destabilizing the entire situation and lengthening the fight. We won, but one member of the party died, one became a lich, which turned him evil, I ran off to become a Vampire-Mage hybrid (not possible by normal means, but eh), and The remaining Forces 5 mage? He stuck around. the world then went to shit and we just started the new campaign in it, titled Magerun: The Shadowing.

Y'know, one of my favourite little details in One Piece is Oda's efforts to give EVERYONE their own laugh. I'm pretty pleased to see that DM is on track with this too. Makes me wonder if it was something discussed with GM or something she's always done...

DM must be rocking some neat evil laugh.

But the players should know each other well enough by now to *know* that the first thing Nami says in any given situation after a reunion is a cover up. How many times has she said "I'm in their crew" by now?

Sure, she's a backstabbing bitch, but she's a graceful backstabbing bitch.

Yeesh. Never tell the munchkin that you've fucked him, or the party (by extension him) on treasure. He'll more than likely gut you without a second thought as to whether you're telling the truth.

And that's when the munchkin ask "wait, that's a plot where we are getting on a PvP?"
