The poor Going Merry model, I bet the whole "need a new ship" motivating factor of the skypea/water7/eynes lobby arcs is caused by what Luke and Cory wind up doing to the actual model ship.
I dunno, Raxon. I'd imagine the newest model would be constructed by whoever ends up playing Franky. It would certainly be an explanation for why the ship is built out of "The most durable wood on the planet".
Then the DM will either end up playing franky, or franky will be played by someone he met while building some of these models, maybe the one who taught him, or who he just knows via the shared hobby
Ooo, so one of my GM friends is an architect. Which makes for AMAZING set-ups when we do play. Every time I get to play with him, we get beautiful to scale replicas for wherever we may be. I'm always too afraid to destroy them...
But that is what our barbarian is for...
Well, the other night the DM held up a pencil when the junior guard was talking, and an umbrella for the senior one.
We don't usually do this stuff... Well, I often act out motions because it's faster than describing them, but I don't damage anything in the process.
I have more child abuse stories about poor Megh, if anyone wants. More lighthearted this time, I swear.

"So, you have the model for the new ship?"
"Sure do! Here you go."
"Oh god my arm! What the hell, GM!? What is this thing made of?"
"That is fifteen pounds of very solidly constructed all steel model."
"Oh, come on! We aren't that clumsy!"
"Luke, last week we had to take you to the emergency room to have pieces of it removed from your face."
