Memo to me, more James Bond style death traps in my games.

Huh you know... that’s actually a good point I’ve done a lot of campaigns but I don’t think I’ve ever been put in a James Bond like trap like this.closest I have to it was a temple puzzle that one of the party messed up trapping us in until we found a way out. But that was only the one time.

Man I need to figure out how to add those in more

The key to a proper Bond trap is the ability to gloat. Whatever happens, the Big Bad needs to be monologuing while its happening. So whatever happens, has to happen slowly, with the appearance of certain death, but not so loud that Big Bad can't be heard over it.
Ideally the party has several rounds to assess their situation, so that when Big Bad finishes and strides away with a dramatic swirl of their cape they can leap into action to jam the mechanism, climb out of the deathtrap, and take out the unfortunate guards that somehow never noticed the equipment being jammed in the first place

One other aspect I think is key, at least, if the villain is supposed to be confident and competent but not overconfident:

The villain either wants the heroes to escape or at least is "okay" with it. The former, when justified, comes with the bonus of the villain finding an excuse to help the PC's escape through omission (like leaving the heroes alone so they can escape) or even veiled commission (for when the party blow it but you as GM don't want a TPK).

Watching this scene again, I wonder... How hard could it be to carry any of them to the Candle Set? I imagine Nami and Vivi trying to get free and hitting with heir arms while Mr Explosion carry them like a bag, and there is also Zoro with the swords.

Also, how much could they weight? even if they carry one by one they have also the legs wax cuffs so it must be very heavy to carry them
