K so rika being robin makes zero sense, I’m pretty sure you learn in kindergarten pink and purple aren’t the same color? And you obviously set her up to be chopper from the start so obviously something made you change you’re mind and whatever it was it was probably a dumb reason *rolls eyes* later I guess
OK that was a curveball I didn’t see coming. Considering her last character I assumed she would be playing chopper. Though... this does put the rescue Robin ark in a new context.
Already been speculated; I forget how many pages ago, but somebody said it might be a public event with Jayden leading CP9 players and Franky's player assisting the Strawhats with his own Franky Family party.
The theory that Rika would be Robin popped up more than a few times in the comments, and had even gained steam earlier on in this arc (alongside the idea that Mr. A-hole would end up being Spandam).
I'm not surprised at all by this. I mean, the clues were there the whole time.
1: Nameing theme. Robin and Rika. Luke and Natalie follow this as well as Gordon for GM. Sure, Cory got his name from Coby, his first named character, but only because he never thought of names for his characters in the first place. Rika's the first player to join in the comic so she probably follows the same theme.
2: Rika has a VERY good memory for D&D. She has an almost encyclopedic knowledge of it, able to list off the stats of creatures or items. Now, I'll admit knowing a creature's stats could point to knowing how to heal them, but she also knows the stats for items. Robin is all about seeking knowledge so when I remember Rika's good memory, Robin was my first thought.
3: Her color IS purple, not pink. If you need a better example than her speech bubbles, look at the sound effects used for her.
4: The very fact that Rika's playing Vivi. Vivi's not a permanent member of the crew, but who joins after she leaves? Robin. A good way to justify switching characters if you ask me. Chopper joins in the middle. Wouldn't controlling two characters in the same party get confusing?
The only thing I am surprised about is that Rika's playing Vivi and Robin at the same time. I thought after Vivi's arc was done, she'd switch to Robin permanently.
She's not exactly playing both at once. Right now, Robin's a villain who's making occasional cameos, while Vivi's a full party member.
I also got the impression, over these past two sessions, that Gordon is pulling Rika in as a co-DM. She's clearly involved in designing and managing the Baroque works plotline. It makes sense to provide her with a few recurring villains to manage. Based on today's page (and some future One Piece events), I wouldn't be terribly surprised if she winds up playing Mr 2. Gordon might even get a chance to sit on the other side of the screen, with Rika running a few sessions.
It also makes some sense, since Robin seems to be almost forgotten during some stretches or off doing her own thing. Chopper, on the other hand... Well, Luffy has Leadership. He's bound to be getting more supporting characters eventually, and a doctor GMPC isn't impossible to manage. Especially if Gordon and Rika swap off on the GM role, it would be a character for Gordon to play

So Robin is gonna be played by Rika? Would have taken her for DM myself.

Yeah, Rika was giving off major Chopper vibes early on.
Colorwise I pegged DM for Franky.

Nah, Franky is gonna be DM's strange cousin. The one line from so long ago.
"Wait, is he wearing what I think he is?"

Come to think of it... what if Mr. 9 ends up playing Spandam? Rescuing Robin from Spandam would gain a whole other level of meaning too.

Kinda surprised by the surprise here.
