Wow, that is a creative way of getting Igaram's quirk into the comic. DT always surprises me with how he makes the world of One Piece work in this new context.

I cracked up when, after reading it in something approaching "Igarapoi's" various actual VA's... I saw that it was supposed to sound like Barry White. So you better believe I re-read it in the correct voice. XD

Wow, I completely forgot that guy did that. The original author, how does he keep making characters so diverse even if they're basically throw away roles?

As a small child, Oda visited the U.S. and must have gotten a taste for foreign cultures; this inspiration is also evident in location design.

Any good story about the GM or players trying to make voices or maybe having problems with voices?

im in a vampire the masquerade campaign and one of my friends is playing the local nossie. every time we go through a session she has to break voice about halfway through because its that rough on her throat. we all have to remind her to drink water when we're running.

this player was also a gatorman in an iron kingdoms rpg that we were in for about 2 years, and sometimes just sent videos to us of alligators making noise.

another player in the vtm campaign plays an owl gangrel and does a lot of screeching and clicking for their character and tbh its pretty great.

Only one of total failure.

No surprise its a GURPS story from way back in my high school days; seriously, I have almost no others.

We were experimenting with:

a) No cap on Disadvantages
b) Player-created races

So I basically came up with something akin to Goro (from Mortal Kombat) but with an all metal body... mixed in with a blatant "I'm trying to do too much with this character." approach to design. One of the ways I tried to squeeze some extra CP out of the Racial Template was to give the entire race the Disturbing Voice Disadvantage. The GM heard my attempt at this and laughingly agreed...

...possibly because he knew there was no way my throat could take that for long. Though, since he let me stop role-playing the voice, but didn't make me pay it off (the character still had it), he probably just thought it was that funny.

Trying to recall the voice now, I guess imagine someone trying to create a voice for a big, fat version of Yoda. Without the speech pattern, mind you. I was going for a weird, metallic screech of a voice, so I really don't know how I got GM approval for it. XD

I've got a boisterous half-orc war-cleric I'm playing, and he's, well, loud and preachy. And has a very deep, gravelly voice.

It wrecks my throat if I'm too enthusiastic with his proselytizing.

"Not Quite What You're After"

I once woke to the sound of myself quietly snoring in a way that sounded like a revving engine. With opened eyes, the sensitivity of my hearing turned down (which is normal for all of us) and I was unable to replicate the sound.
