"sorry. I'm dead."

That grin, along with how Luffy waited for Nami to ask for help, cemented Luffy's character for me. He has heart, he'll grin and laugh in the face of his own imminent demise, but when anyone else is suffering, he takes that as a matter of grave importance.

Luffy's a great character. Luke does great as Luffy.

I still wonder, given all the typical D&D/Pathfinder mechanics slipped into this version of the story but completely absent from the original, if we're going to find out Luke has some secret trait that makes it a bad idea to actually kill him.

Especially as resurrection magic exists in Grand Line 3.5 so we could see Saiyan levels of abuse.

"Wait, so every time you die and get resurrected you can gain bonus EXP?"

"Only if certain conditions are met, basically a dramatic battle against overwhelming odds."

"With your character build, it is almost impossible for you to die except through horribly cheap, unfair instakills. Tactics to which you know I'd never resort."

"Yup.":D

Reminds me of the Tome of Radiance fan book for 3.5. Several of the prestige classes have some method of auto resurrection. Probably my favorite has to be the aptly named Immortal prestige class, because the capstone ability makes it so that when you die, you immediately get back up with full hp and bonuses against whatever killed you. Scared the shit out of the Wizard player when they tried to kill me.

Well, then... Who's going to come in as a cleric of Eneru?
I mean come on, what else could it be? We already know Gordon's the type to stick to the script come hell or high water, so he isn't going to just Deus Ex Machina a goddamned bolt of lightning on top of the platform, and clerics of the Rap God are apparently notoriously broken...

Actually, he wouldn't have to Deus ex Machina anything, although a deity's gonna be involved. Luffy declared (in front of thousands of people) that he was going to kick Poseidon's ass, and hasn't moved an inch since. That's pretty much begging for a lightning strike.
