For some reason I feel like this was a hard screenshot to capture.

It looks like the first panel was multiple screenshots overlayed and edited. It is very well done.

Oh no, splicing is the worst! It's well done, hope it didn't take too long.

The final effect is brilliant though, you've really captured the tension and gravitas of this scene. As is the the narration.

You have a real talent for storytelling through implication without breaking pace. That's very hard to do preoperly

Don't feel pressured into going to more effort than you're comfortable, but what you have? it's fantastic.

and it is appreciated. Don't doubt that

Thanks! It’s always great when someone notices these things. ^_^

Although, I’m not sure I can take credit for the pacing. Using the source material as a guide really helped in that department.

If this is the memory that’s going through Phil’s head, then I think he figures that it’s funny how things turned out. It’s actually pretty deep how, initially only being here to be approximate to some girls, Phil cares enough about his character that he internally realizes that walking away from this and resigning Usopp to being a coward and nothing else would be what *really* signals him giving up on the guy, moreso than the possible invitation to have DM kill him off directly ever could. I can’t wait to see if this was intentional on DM’s part, or if she was playing the kill-off invitation straight and totally misread him.

Hmm... I hadn’t actually thought that deeply about it. I was more focused on Phil becoming attached to Usopp and how when he was offered the chance to play, he had the chance to create his own character. What I really wanted to show was that Usopp is now his character, even if GM made the character sheet.
