...And then there's players who simply WANT their characters to die.

Let's be honest; if you were just handed Usopp instead of getting to make a character of your own, you might be one of those players, too. ;)

There's a reason that I frown on EVER giving out pre-made characters, or in 'making' characters for new players. it never works out.

There's something about going through the creation process, picking the abilities and feats and all of that, and filling out the character sheet yourself that helps to solidify the interactions and special circumstances in your mind, that even careful study of a pre-filled sheet won't get you.

And I'd rather have a low-powered character that the player knows how to play, than give them a twink that they can't use.

Oh, definitely. Giving a character a twink they can't use creates the ever-so-delightful impression of "I am playing my character wrong." That's one of those things that'll suck the fun out of a game for them.

As for the comic, I do know that Usopp eventually gets much better, although not having seen this arc, I don't know if this is where it happens. Here's hoping!

"Obstination"

really don't want to leave on a defeat, does'nt he?
He does'nt particularly lose something aside from the duel if he deceide to stop there, but he won't stop befor winning something.

Deeds? I didn't know Pathfinder was bleeding into the comic, unless Grand Line 3.5 at some point prior let Pathfinder stuff in.

I note this not in a pejorative sense, but more of a surprised sense, mainly because the comic's name "Grand Line 3.5", then again, Pathfinder is based off 3.5 to the point of being 3.7, so who am I talking?

I'd say the system they use is close to 3.5, but with some homebrewed stuffs thrown in.

I thought it was a mostly made up system for ages but apparently it matches pretty closely.

So... Any story that had someone that did all they could to try to have their character killed early?
