I really hope that she remembers that she's playing with a newbie player here.

DM? Pretty sure she knows that full well. But she's DM, so she doesn't care.image

That's...a really jerk move.

Stuff like that can kill a player's motivation for playing the game.

If the player wants a challenge, that's one thing, but 'Phil' is a newbie who doesn't know all the tricks and things to avoid yet.

That's why i think Gordon or Luke will step in and remind DM to not play it as if Phil was as experienced as them.

Bah, if you always coddle him he'll never learn. Toss him into the deep end!

I of course would never suggest anybody actually do this to a newbie, unless you just really hate them and they somehow invited themselves to your game.

I've seen it once.
One player's boyfriend got invited, knowing them i knew that it was going to turn badly, and i declined when asked to GM for them, a friend of mine accepted (Said friend was a nice person overall, but not very patient as a GM).
The GM was okay with going easy on the newbie and all. the problem was'nt there.
The two started playing as if they where only two instead of y'know a party of four peoples i was'nt playing). Carring only about each other PC and automatically sided with each other, nearly got one other PC killed because the healer was'nt doing her job (the GM saved that character because she deemed unfair to let a character die for this).
Then the GM got fed up with this and started going hard on them.
